I am currently teaching a number of Accounting, Business Analytics, and Finance units at both the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels at the School of Accounting and Finance, Murdoch University, Australia.
I have been teaching since Trimester 1 2023 in Australia. Over the past two and a half years, I have taught accounting and finance to more than a thousand students, many of whom are now successfully working in the Australian market, including a number of students in Big4 companies. As a dedicated academic, I take great pride in shaping the next generation of professionals. Overview: Business analytics is a powerful analytical tool in today’s marketplace. Across industries, organisations are generating massive amounts of data, which, in turn, has created a high demand for professionals of different job sectors who know how to interpret and analyse that information. It comprises three broad categories of techniques: descriptive analytics, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics. In this unit, students are introduced to descriptive analytics encompasses data queries, reports, descriptive statistics, and data visualisation, including data dashboards and some data-mining techniques.

BUS286: Corporate Finance (UG)

Offered: Semester S2 (2023) - Two 2-hour sessions/weekly (50 students)

Overview: This unit develops the study of the role of quantitative analysis in facilitating personal and corporate financial decisions. The principal focus of the unit is the student's knowledge of finance, especially in relation to investment decision making for the corporate financial manager. Major topics include the valuing of debt and equity securities; the evaluation and selection of investment projects; the capital asset pricing model; Australian financial market; dividend policy and capital structure; and working capital management.

Overview: The objective of the unit is to develop a theoretical and legal background to the role and responsibilities of the auditor and the audit process. Topics include the scope and limitations of the audit; the legal background to audit responsibilities and duty of care; auditing standards; accepting and planning audit engagements; evaluating audit risk; internal control; audit evidence; audit procedures and audit reports.

BUS356: Contemporary Financial Accounting (UG)

Offered: Semester S1 (2024) - Two 2-hour sessions/weekly (60 students)

Overview: This is an advanced accounting unit and therefore critically examines and evaluates a number of specific issues selected from the prevailing set of accounting standards promulgated in Australia and legally mandated for use by companies. These range from share issues, asset impairment and intangibles consolidations, tax-effect accounting, extractive industries, leases, financial instruments and public sector accounting. The unit focuses on definitions, concepts, principles, theories, as well as accounting practices in the Australian context.

MBS544: Accounting Process (Fin Accounting) (PG)

Overview: MBS544 provides the fundamental concepts and technical skills that students need for future units in accounting. By the end of the course, students will be able to record accounting transactions and produce relevant financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards. Topics include the double entry recording system, financial statements, valuation and measurement of assets, liability and equity. Students will also utilise QuickBooks software to facilitate their understanding of the computerised accounting process.

Overview: This unit provides students with an understanding of the macro-economic setting in which corporate financial decisions are made. Students will be exposed to finance theory and some of the tools and techniques used in financial analysis and should apply these to financial decision making. The focus of the unit is to provide a comprehensive conceptual framework from which future managers will be able to understand, direct and evaluate the efforts of financial practitioners. To assist students in acquiring this understanding, students must perform basic financial calculations. This unit's conceptual framework and techniques will provide students who wish to progress to a practitioner role within the finance discipline with a foundation for further studies.

Overview: This unit provides an overview of business valuation, the standards, concepts and principles of valuation, and their application in the financial and corporate world. It introduces a valuation framework for doing financial statement analysis, together with practical skills in business valuation. Different approaches to business valuation will be explored with theoretically sound and practically defensible outcomes, followed by an overview of mergers and acquisitions and the merger's impact on capital structure and market, and finally, a brief observation of how communications with investors affect business valuation.
